Introducing the Library staff

Mrs Stapleton is the Learning Resource Centre Assistant.

How Many?

Students in Years 7 - 9 can borrow up to 2 items for 2 weeks. Students in Years 10 and 11 can borrow 4 books. Sixth Form students can borrow up to 6 items.

Books can be renewed.

Resources Available

Fiction Books - are arranged on the shelves in alphabetical order according to the author's surname.

Non-Fiction Books - are arranged on the shelves by Dewey Classification number. There are notices giving the main subjects and their numbers on display throughout the LRC.

Reference Books - are marked on the spine and inside covers with "Not to be Taken Away" or "Reference Only" labels, and these should never be removed from the LRC.

Stationery - a large range is available for purchase between 8.45am and 9.00am, breaktime and lunchtime.

Expected Behaviour

The LRC is a place for quiet reading or work.

Students must not eat or drink in the LRC.

Students must not put their feet on the furniture.

Bags and coats must be placed in the baskets provided.

Books and resources must be treated with care and put back where they belong after use.

Chairs must be put back under the table after use.

In the LRC we do our best to:

Be friendly and helpful.

Make sure that the LRC is open for you to use at breaktime and lunchtime.

Help you to find the information, books or other resources you need.

Make sure that we provide a range of books on different topics and by different authors.

Provide an area for you to read and to study.

Make sure that the computers are working.

Hold special events, competitions, activities and displays throughout the year eg. Readathon, World Book Day, Problem solving activities and displays of Year 7 History Castle Project.
